A tender exploration of revolution, revolutionary mothering, breaking lineal chains and fulfilling ancestral visions, it affirms the experience of inheritance, expectation, and anxiety of the womxn-mother-daughter-sister-cousin-aunt-goddess-witch-bitch multitudes contained within each Black womxn. Alina Stefanescu
Alina Stefanescu was born in Romania and lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her partner and several intense mammals. She is the author of a hybrid poetry collection, Stories to Read Aloud to Your Fetus(Finishing Line Press, 2017), and her debut fiction collection, Every Mask I Tried On, won the Brighthorse Books Prize and was published in 2018. Her writing can be found in diverse journals, including Prairie Schooner, North American Review, FLOCK, Southern Humanities Review, Crab Creek Review, Virga, Whale Road Review, and others. She serves as Poetry Editor for Pidgeonholes, Poetry Editor for Random Sample Review, Poetry Reviewer for Up the Staircase Quarterly, and Co-Director of PEN America's Birmingham Chapter. Kenneth Michael
Kenneth Michael was born in Missouri, USA, in 1991. He grew up in Nebraska and attended The University of Iowa. After college, Michael moved to New York City, where he lived and worked as a bookseller for two years. His first novel is a work in progress, and he is publishing short stories to be collected into a book-length manuscript. He lives in Iowa City with his wife and son.
